  Graphene sheets (GSs) are a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in the honeycomb lattices,and have been applied in nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) on account of their superior mechanical,structural,and electronic properties.In theory,an ideal GS without topological defects displays a perfect 2D flat plane shape.However,in reality,topological defects (e.g.,disclinations and dislocations) have been widely observed in produced GSs,and owning to the nano-scale thickness of GSs,the out-of-plane deformations may be generated in free standing GSs with topological defects to release the in-plane deformation energy.Hence,by introducing reasonable topological defects in GSs,it is possible to obtain the objective 3D configurations of GSs for fitting some special requirements in the design of NEMS.
