  MTSS1 (metastasis suppressor 1), also known as MIM (missing in metastasis), was originally identified by Young-Goo Lee from South Korea, as a protein down-regulated in metastatic bladder carcinoma and prostate cancer cell lines.The down-regulation of MTSS1 was also observed in many other types of cancer, such as breast cancer, gastric cancer, lung cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinomas, and so on.Until now, the role of MTSS1 in carcinogenesis and cancer metastasis has not been well illustrated.But, more and more evidence indicated that MTSS1 actually acts as a scaffold protein that interacts with multiple partners to regulate actin dynamics, so MTSS 1 associated with cytoskeleton remodeling, deformation of cell membrane, formation of filopodia, therefore get the role in uptake, cell motility, pseudopodia formation, carcinogenesis and metastasis.
