The South Tianshan is situated in the tectonic joint zone between the Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB)and the Tarim-North China blocks,it contains geological records essential in deciphering the Paleozoic accretion tectonics of the CAOB.Understanding the detailed accretion processes of the South Tianshan will improve our knowledge on the geodynamics of fossil accretionary orogens.
