Gene-expression profiling using whole-genome microarray screening holds the promise of revealing molecular mechanisms and biomarkers of neurodegenerative disease.Potential applications to chemical triggers of disease prompted the formation of a Toxicogenomics Research Consortium (TRC) drawn from academic,governmental and private institutions with funding from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) of the U.S.National Institutes of Health.
