Most analytical devices are used for process monitoring in one of three ways(1-monitor the process and alarm if some undesirable condition occurs; 2-make a measurement and report it to central process control,where it will be used with other information to adjust control parameters,or 3-make a measurement which directly causes action to adjust the process without human intervention).This talk will explore many lessons learned from 60 years of installing process analyzers in industrial manufacturing sites.During this time,the job of the analytical chemist has changed dramatically.
