  Background:Three-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography(3D-STE)is a new technology used to determine myocardial strain which overcomes the drawbacks of two-dimensional(2D)tomographic imaging and errors associated with the"out of plane"movement.However,different vendorsultrasound systems need its own analysis packages to obtain strain values from 3D STE.A validation of the variations in strain values between different ultrasound systems is necessary.This in vitro study calculated longitudinal strain(LS)from the different ultrasound systems before and after myocardial infarct using a vendor-independent analysis software package(TomTecs 4D LV Analysis)to validate the variation of two ultrasound systems.
