This research is part of a larger longitudinal study that examines the effect of an intervention designed to improve the entrepreneurial performance of small regional agricultural firms.A motivation for this study is that agricultural firms in regional China tend to be small and do not tend to demonstrate entrepreneurial behavior that is capable of facilitating firm growth. As a result, these firms tend to underperform.Underperformance at the firm level flows through to the regional communities that surround these firms. As such, this research is as much about social entrepreneurship and innovation and how individual regional firm behavior affects communities as it is about corporate entrepreneurship and innovation.
