Because of the widespread use of thorium and its toxic properties, the development and improvement in analysis methods for the determination of thorium would be useful [1-3].We developed a novel 1, 1-bi-2-naphthol (BINOL) derivative fluorescence sensor L-1 for the recognition of thorium ion with a fluorescence quench response.This ligand showed high selectivity and sensitivity for thorium ion recognition (Figure 1).
