Since aquaculture of Argopecten irradians was introduced to Hebei province in the 1990s, the industry size got well developed because of its short-termly cultivation, highly efficiency and easily nurture.For now, the industrial chain of reproduction, cultivation, scallop column processing, refrigeration and export trade is embryonic formed, and the coastal cultivating area has been expanded from Shanhaiguan district, Qin Huangdao to Lao Ting district in Tang Shan.In addition, the distance to coast has also been extended from Two Miles away,of three to five depths, to Fifteen Miles away, of fifteen to eighteen depths.The cultivating area has exceeded over 98,482.15 acre.Mainly productive areas of Hebei province are the areas of Fu Ning and Chang Li district, which is larger than 65,984 acre.The productions of cultivation of Hebei province reached 28,500,000 cages, the productions of scallop and column are 328,000 ton and 35,700 ton, and their output value is 1.23 Billion Yuan.The productions of scallop and column are 11.5 Kg and 1.25Kg per cage.
