We report on the formation of various types of silicon materials,such as needle-like single crystals,microparticles and silicon nanowires,via the zinc reduction reaction of silicon tetrachloride.These materials with different morphologies form depending upon reaction conditions,such as reaction temperatures or the concentration of the source gas.
