Hypoxia inducible factor (HIF) 1α is an oxygen-sensitive subunit of HIF-1 that is a master factor for cellular response to hypoxia.The down-regulation of mitochondrial enzyme manganese superoxide dismutase (SOD2) contributes to the stability of HIF1α underhypoxia via decreasing the dismutation of superoxide radical.
