The phase diagram of the multiphase material is the guide of new material design.In order to determine phase relations of liquid phase sintered SiC with Al2O3-Y2O3 as sintering additive,samples of SiC-Al2O3-Y2O3 system with different components(SiC:Al2O3:Y2O3=1:1:1; 1:1:2; 2:1:3; 2:4:1 mol%)were prepared by a pressureless sintering in Ar atmosphere at the temperature range from 1720℃ to 1760℃ for 1h.The phase compositions of the samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction to determine the phase relations in the systems.The result shows that,new phases such as Al5Y3O12,Al2Y4O9,YAlO3 are formed due to the reactions between Al2O3 and Y2O3 in the samples with certain components sintered at a certain temperature.
