Lithium ion batteries (LIBs) are emerging as one of the most popular energy storage technology. One of the most stringent challenges that LIB technology is currently facing is the development of highperformance anode materials. The limiting factor of the most common conventional anode material, graphite, relies in its maximum specific capacity that is limited to 372 mAh g-1.Moreover, LIB anodes are usually prepared by mixing the active materials with binders and conductive materials. These accounts for ~10-20% of the total weight of the electrode, a negative factor being a material not involved in the lithium ion intercalation/de-intercalation process. Here,we report on the fabrication of binder-free LPE graphene-based anodes for lithium ion batteries.
