Non-invasive molecular imaging opens a window into the biology of living subjects, and has found myriads of applications in biomedical researches, drug discovery and disease diagnostics. Its success is critically dependent on the development of molecular imaging probes that enable direct visualization of specific molecular targets and processes.Advances in nanotechnologies and nanomaterials offer numerous opportunities to develop novel, powerful probes for molecular imaging.
