Over the past couple of years the concept of Smart Cities as gone from a point of discussion around raising government, academic and industry awareness to one of practical reality. With many industry, government and academic partners accepting the value of smarter more connected cities the scope and size of the challenges involved in understanding how to connect these cities in an efficient and effective manner are not trivial.Organizations, without even considering their part in a smarter extended infrastructure are only now beginning to address the issues of IT alignment to improved performance and business value.Through IVIs research around understanding IT capability (IT-CMF), as it relates to organizational performance, Dr.McLaughlin will present what they believe are some of the challenges in understanding the IT related capabilities of the extended IT systems as they, in turn, relate to a smarter cities infrastructure.
