The aim of the study was to investigate the cytokines levels and bone turn over marker in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(COPD)patients who complicated by osteoporosis.Seventy COPD patient, who were allocated to either the osteoporosis and non-osteoporosis group, with each group consisting of 35 patients. We were involved 35 healthy subjects as control group.Blood pro-inflammatory cytokines(TNF-a,IL-6,IL-17,IL-1b)and CTX,RANK,and OPG were analyzed by ELISA technique.Bone densitometry was done by DXA,T score more than-2,5 were diagnosed as osteoporosis.Result :The Brinkmann Index, duration of COPD,FEV1/FVC ratio, and FEV1 value were no significantly different between osteoporosis and non-osteoporosis of COPD groups(P> 0.05).The level of femur and lumbal BMD were significantly decreased in COPD+Osteoporosis group compared to healthy control or COPD without osteoporosis group(P<0.05),but not difference between thosed healthy control or COPD group(P>0.05).The levels of TNF-a,IL-6,and IL-17 were greater significantly in COPD+osteoporosis compared with COPD without ost or healthy group(p<0.05).CTX levels was significantly increased in COPD+OP group compared to healthy control or COPD group(P<0.05),but not difference between healthy control or COPD group. The levels of RANK and OPG were not significantly different between group(P>0.05).Conclusion:The increased of pro-inflammatory cytokines induces bone resorption in osteoporosis due to COPD.
