Systematically this paper summaried the progress of research and exploitation of non-heading Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris ssp.chinensis Makino) in recent 50 years by Nanjing Agricultural University.It discussed the achievements what the germplasm research of non-heading Chinese cabbage has gained in some aspects,such as research methods,investigation,collection and arrangement of germplasm,observation of morphology,research of biological characteristics,putting forward horticultural classification,resistance identification and analysis,genetic dynamic of mainly economic characters,exploitation,and so on.
