FHC is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in young people, affecting approximately 1-2% of children and adolescents, and up to 1% of young adults.Although SCD is considered rare in competitive athletes (1 in 200,000), FHC is the most common cause of SCD and is associated with nearly one third of such occurrences.
