The liver is both a site for primary malignancies (hepatocellularcarcinoma,cholangiocarcinoma) as well as for secondary metastasis.While HCC in cirrhosis represents more than 75％ of malignanciesworldwide and is associated with a good long-term survival of 70％if specific selection criteria are applied,in selected cases of non-HCCmalignancies or even liver metastases,liver transplantation may beindicated.However,the experience in these cases is markedly smallerand the selection criteria are not as clearly defined as in HCC.
