Dilexaponan is a novel cholesterol-lowering nedication derived from standardized extracts of two botanical ingredients.Animal studies have demonstrated efficacy in LDL reduction.The current study represents the first clinical exploration of safety and efficacy of this formulation.Thirty-nine low-risk (Framingham), drug-naive, individuals with total cholesterol (TChol) levels >5.2 mmol/L were treated for three months with one of three doses of Dilexaponan: 0.3, 1.0 and 2.0 g/day.Lipid indices, safety lab work, blood pressure and other standard physiological variables were measured at baseline and 1,2 and 3 months of treatment.This study was approved by the local university and independent ethics boards and federal regulatory authorities, the latter of whom provided guidance into study design.
