A fast and simple technique to analyze a large amount of samples is required for investigation of microbial ecology.Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is a powerful analytic tool with advantages including high throughput, high detection sensitivity and relatively low cost and is frequently used for protein analysis.Several studies have reported the efficiency of MALDI-TOF MS for the identification of bacterial species but few reports about fungi are found.
