Nowadays,urban roads are always full of cars.Driving in heavy traffic,horns are ringing more frequently,which has drawn much attention on its design and quality issue in automotive industry.Even though,the dynamic process of horn functioning is still lack of understanding.In the present paper,a multibody dynamic(MBD)model was created based on MotionSolve platform to study the horn pressing force.Parameter settings and dynamic relationships were detailedly discussed.Correlations were carried out by comparing the simulation and testing results.Furthermore,robustness of the horn pressing force were systematically investigated by analyzing the sensitivity of major design factors and design tolerance,including horn spring properties,pressing locations,and contact status.This paper is expected to provide reference on horn design and optimization for automotive engineers.
