This paper discussed about universal interface for LED driver to reduce its pin count and simplifying its connection port to external device to improve the driver’s interoperability and compatibility.Being the essential components,it is desirable that the Electronics Control Gear (ECG or Driver) capable of robustly connects with various separated light modules,sensor and lighting control system.By doing this,it will greatly enhance the LED Driver compatibility,interoperability,and exchangeability.An intelligent LED driver with adaptive interface detection and auto-configuration can be the solution.For adaptive interface detecting approach,it automatically identify the interface type such as analog or digital interface,and further determine the object type,attribute,characteristics,and react accordingly.In the instance when the device is a LED module,it detects the LED module load information and adjust its output power to driver the module; when the device is a sensor,it pulls the sensor’s data and control the LED module based on the data collected from; when the connected device is a lighting control system,it response to the control system command for lighting control such dimming,CCT,color mixing etc.With one pair of physical interface port,the driver capable of detecting connected device type and configures accordingly to adapt to various devices it connected to.
