  Because of the loss of effective teaching concept, the learning situation is not optimistic and needs to be improved in math courses teaching for computer major students in application-oriented colleges.To achieve effective math teaching, we should, based on a good understanding of students learning characteristics, students study practice and the cultivating goals of application-oriented colleges, adhere to three principles: first, students must be able to continue their study; second, adequate applied problems should be integrated into mathematics courses; third, students must "do" in the class.After that, we should get clear the relation between inspiring teaching and investigative teaching.And in the regular math teaching, we should positively develop the advanced teaching: investigative teaching.Moreover, some real examples for carrying out investigative teaching are also presented in this paper.
