  Hydrophilic polymers have a capacity of swelling by imbibing large amounts of waters, leading to their wide application in many fields, such as biomedical engineering and tissue engineering.According to the chemo-mechanical coupling characteristics, we develop a coupled chemo-mechanical theoretical model based on the framework of thermodynamics, which is further integrated into the finite-element package, ABAQUS, by a user-defined subroutine.
