The anterior cingulate cortex(ACC) is thought to be key neural substrates underlying emotional responses.Using pain-related conditioned place avoidance models(CPA),we observed that bilateral excitotoxic lesions of the ACC suppressed the formalin-induced CPA(F-CPA).
