Liquid templating, a process where solid particles are formed from dispersed liquid droplets, is a well-known method for the preparation of monodisperse microparticles. The most widely used approach to date for the generation of monodisperse liquid droplets as a template is the use of microfluidics of different configurations. There are, however, major challenges in using the microfluidic approach to produce large quantities of monodisperse microparticles of several microns. These include difficulties in accurately and consistently fabricating the small openings or channels, high back pressure and frequent blockage of the flow channels.
