Radiotherapy is an important lung cancer treatment modality.However,its efficacy is often compromised by the radioresistance of cancer cells and radiation-induced toxicity to normal lung tissue.TGF-β1 has been reported to be involved in lung injury and fibrosis after radiotherapy.Thus targeting TGF-β1 might prevent radiation-induced normal tissue toxicity.On the other hand,TGF-β1 inhibition has been found to increase radiosensitivity of breast cancer cells.
