Hydro(solvo)thermal in situ ligand synthesis is of great interest in coordination chemistry and organic chemistry for the preparation of unusual coordination complexes as ell as for the discovery of new organic reactions and understanding of their mechanisms.[1-5] In this contribution,one new Cd Ⅱ coordination polymer [Cd(L)(2,2'-bpy)]·H2O(1,H2L = 5,10-dioxo-5,10-dihydrochromeno [5,4,3-cde] chromene-2,7-dicarboxylic acid,2,2'-bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine)containing 5,10-dioxo-5,10-dihydrochromeno [5,4,3-cde] chromene-2,7-dicarboxylate ligand,which have been synthesized in situ from the reaction of 6,6'-dinitro-2,2',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid,Cd Ⅱ ion,and 2,2'-bpy(see scheme 1).
