  Interest in metabolomite profiling (metabolomics) has gained increased popularity in recent years.From finger printing of species to characterization of specific disease states, metabolomics is being employed throughout the areas of human, animal and plant sciences.The complexity of metabolomic samples, which often contain hundreds of compounds, along with the need for increased sample throughput, creates significant challenges to todays analytical chemist.Traditional analysis of volatile and semi-volatile compounds found in metabolomic samples have been performed with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GCMS).More recently, advanced is technology have provided researchers with analytical tools for increased sample throughput and faster acquiring detectors.
