The ever-increasing traffic volume and loads necessarily require bridge replacement or rehabilitation.The rehabilitation/replacement with conventional construction (CC) methods requires extended construction duration creating difficulties to the stakeholders.Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) techniques are designed to reduce construction time; however,they are not the solution for every site.Understanding the need of having a specific model for selecting the best bridge construction alternative,CC vs.ABC,for a specific site Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and several state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) introduced a few decision-making models.The most basic decision-making models consist of a flowchart that requires YesjNo type decisions to proceed towards the construction alternative.
