The coumarin compounds are an important class of biologically active molecules,which have caught the attention of many organic and medicinal chemists,due to potential pharmaceutical implications and industrial applications1.In particular,3-phosphoratec coumarins have been shown to exhibit cytotoxicity on some human leukemia cell lines2.Recently,the transition metal-catalysed direct C-H bond phosphonation has been noticed to be a potentially more effcient and convenient alternative for the straight forward synthesis of such compounds.
