This study concentrates on identifying the critical success factors from theperspective of automotive suppliers,which factors influence the success of theinnovative process of product development of an automotive. In reality,suppliersprovide more than 50 percent of vehicle contents for most automakers and shouldclearly become a fundamental part of a lean product development system. As globalearmakers,suppliers are their technical expertise in addition to their parts-makingcapability. This study addresses how to derive great innovation for a supplier ofautomotive industry,based on research and development (R&D).
The thing about waves is that they form a pattern,with one following another. Awave of technology innovation is under way. And amid the turbulence,surprisingnewcomers will be emerging from suppliers or others. While the mainstreamautomotive industry moves forward to getting over the financial crisis,suppliersshould he plugging into a radically different automotive future by new ideas only as astarting point. Actually,there will be more technological innovation involved in theautomotive industry,which will also change the customers demand of the market andthe way of operating business with suppliers as well
As to Yazaki Corporation,a typical automotive supplier,sales and productdevelopment will need to make considerably greater and better coordinated effortsfrom now on. This thesis addresses the critical success for applying Toyota Product"Development System in an automotive supplier.
This study,in general,contributes in how to derive the great innovation forsuppliers of automotive industry. Through my approach,I propose an innovativemodel for the global automotive industry,in particular.
