有岛武郎以其清新的欧式文风和对人道主义的独特见解,成为大正民主主义风潮中一盏不灭的明灯。同时,有岛武郎饱受灵肉二元世界的折磨,由虔诚的基督教徒转变为追逐“本能生活”的殉葬者,其“背教文学家”的定位也是学术界一直关注的焦点问题之一。在日本民族普遍的泛神论自然观与基督教“人类中心论”的冲突下,有岛武郎成为了东西方文明碰撞与融合的一个交汇点。本文试图以1907年有岛武郎退出教会以后的作品为线索,通过考察作者对于自然的本质、人类的生存价值的看法,得出了以下结论 :自然的本质是美丽和庄严的,近乎完美;人类的本性虽然丑恶,但这并不否定其生存的价值,人类只有在创造中才能继续繁衍。
