Along with our country’s higher education level enhancement, the furniture design quality ofteaching also obviously improves, but there are still great disparities compared with developed country.With the rapid development of Chinese furniture manufacturing industry nowadays, our country’sundergraduate course of furniture design teaching is facing the transformation, which makes numerousinstitutions of higher learning carry on the exploration of the reform in education of furniture design.Recently, the traditional Classroom teaching seriously fetters the development of students’ thought, anddoesn’t suit students’ personalization development. The format of traditional classroom teaching islistening and memorizing, rather than make dead knowledge used flexibly, which causes the students toactivate the knowledge in books for their own knowledge. Furniture design teaching has its unique aspect.The teachers not only give students knowledge instruction, but also need to stimulate students’ designpotential, enable the elementary knowledge and the creation thought be paid more attention. That deservesto be called high-quality education. So in view of various drawbacks of the school education, it must takeeffective reform measures, and improve the quality of teaching. Otherwise, teaching will break away fromthe need of society development gradually.The paper has grasped a large number of firsthand materials through the questionnaire investigation,interview and on-the-spot investigation, and introduced the necessity of the teaching method reform offurniture design comprehensively and specifically. Through the thorough investigation and study, itdissects the present teaching situation, summarizes the insufficiency of the teaching method, proposes thereform measures, in order to anticipate to inspire the development of furniture design education of ourcountry’s undergraduate course. The thesis is mainly divided into three parts:Chapter one: Mainly reviews and summarizes the history and the present situation of the domestic andforeign furniture design education.Chapter two: Through investigating the leaders of the partial furniture production enterprise,specialized students at school and graduate, it proposes the insufficiency which exists in the teachingmethod as well as the necessity of the reform.Chapter three: Through comparing, analyzing, summing up a large amount of interviews and thecollection of the embodiments, it conducts the thorough research to the furniture design teaching methodreform of undergraduate course of our country, and proposes several measures of the teaching methodreform of furniture design.Chapter four: It proposes the concrete means of the teaching method reform in view of FurnitureCharting.Finally, through analyzing and researching, the author proposes further conceives of the educationalreform for our country furniture design and hopes to offer the mentalities with certain reference value forthe furniture design education of our country’s undergraduate course.
