超宽带频率综合器的研究与设计

This thesis presents a detailed research and discussion on the design of the fully integrated frequency synthesizer for MB-OFDM(Multi-Band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) UWB(Ultra Wide Band) transceiver.Firstly,the thesis introduces the specifications of UWB frequency synthesizer.Then,the research focuses on the optimization of UWB frequency synthesizer,and a great effort were paid on the design of the key circuits.Finally,the chip of UWB frequency synthesizer was manufactured with Jazz 0.18gm RF CMOS technology.In the part of UWB synthesizer architecture design,analyses and discussions were made on the published UWB synthesizer architecture,i.e.multi-loop based, single side band(SSB) mixer based and DLL based.On this basis,a modified and optimized architecture was presented.In part of QVCO design,a detailed introduction of QVCO is made.Phase noise models of LC-VCO were studied,and a periodic time-varying analytical approach was developed.The trade off in QVCO design was presented with linear time-unvarying approach,and a design example was given to illustrate the design procedure.In part of charge pump design,non-idealities were introduced firstly.Then, some basic architecture was discussed,and the architecture used in this paper was presents with its advantages.In part of divider design,several CML dividers were compared,and a simplified quantitative analysis on CML divider was discussed, providing a basic design procedure on design of CML divider.In part of SSB mixer design,a multi-mode SSB mixer was provided for reducing power and chip area.The principle and third order distortion of multi-mode SSB mixer were analyzed.Finally,transistor level based simulations on the synthesizer system were made, including locking time,spur and frequency switching.At the end of the paper,the measurements shows that the performance of QVCO better than specifications. Through the chip test,the proposed design procedure and methodology are validated.In general,the thesis discusses the method and procedure from specifications design to circuits and layout design and test for high frequency agile synthesizer.
