PurPose To evaluate the protective effects of Ge- 132 onliver injury during normothermic ischemia and rePerfusion. Methods: The animal model of hepatic ischemia/reperfusion was produced by operation and fifty wistar ratswere divided randomly into 5 groups (n=1to: A. normal groupB.control grouP C. Ge- 132(25mg/kg, iv) pretreated group D.Ge-132(5mg/kg, iv) pretreated group. The hePatic tissuesamples were colleCted to determine contents ofmalondiadehyde (MDA), activity of SOD and GSH-PX,activity of Na+. K+ -ATPase and Ca’+-ATPase. ResuIts: Inpretreated groups, hepatic tissue contents ofmalondialdehyde(MDA) reduced markedly(P< 0. 0D incomParison with the untreated control group, the activity ofSOD,GSH-PX and ATPase (Na+. K +-ATPase, Ca’+-ATPase)in hepatic tissue increased significantly. Results showed thatthere was significant different betWeen lower dose andupper dose Ge-132 pretreated groups. Conclusions: carboxyethyl. germanium sesquioxied (Ge- 132) attenuate the hepatic.. tinJury during normothermic is chem ia/rePerfUsio n,wh ichinhibites production of oxygenic free radicals andpreyents hepatocellular Ca’+overload.
