医学情报研究是现代医学情报工作的核心,是探索性、创造性的工作;是一种高层次的情报服务。随着医药卫生科学技术的发展,医学科技情报工作本身也发生了根本性的变化。因此,各级情报机构不仅要紧紧围绕国家、部门和地区的医药卫生科研和管理决策需要,开展情报研究,为制订医药卫生科技、教育方针政策、发展规划、科技攻关、技术引进、成果推广和领导决策提供依据,而且还要加强医学科技情报理论方法的研究,以指导医学科技情报事业健康的发展。
