In the early days of the war of resistance against Japan, France, like other Western powers, pursued an appeasement policy toward Japan’s aggression and only expressed its moral support and extremely limited assistance to China in an attempt to sacrifice China’s interest in exchange for its own temporary peace. Due to the special situation in France, his China policy has some distinctive features. Although the general articles only deal with the Anglo-American policy toward China during the Anti-Japanese War, and the research on France is relatively small, this article attempts to reveal the French government’s China policy and Sino-French relations through the incident of the French military advisory mission in the early days of the Anti-Japanese War Evolution.
