根据现有X.25分组交换网络配置设备的需求以及LAN/WAN网络互连要求的提出,首先实现了X.25网络适配器,使IBM PC/XT、AT及其兼容微机得以作为分组式终端直接与X.25分组交换网联网。然后,通过对现有3~+局部网络所具备的网间互连功能的分析,依据OSI模型进一步实现了3~+LAN/X.25WAN网关。这样,彼此独立相距遥远的两个3~+LAN就可以通过与X.25分组交换网的互连,利用X.25分组交换网作为通信子网,而相互连接起来进行远程的资源共享和通信。
