The development under this contract has been improved in terms of crystal bonding, sensor mounting, wire placement and electronic design, while maintaining the inherent simplicity and reliability of the basic rate sensor. These improvements in turn have greatly improved the performance of the sensor. Several large-scale design indicators have been achieved, the sensitivity of less than 0.01 degrees / sec, linearity less than 1% of the full scale, long-term drift has reached less than 0.02 degrees / second / hour.
