日本美术是整个亚洲或者说东方美术与西方美术融合较早和较为成功的范例,自明治维新以来接受西方文化至今,日本美术已探索出了将东西方艺术理念融会一体的现代风貌,并产生了许多著名的艺术家,河野通男就是当今日本的名画家之一。 1938年,河野通男出生于广岛市,1962年,毕业于爱媛大学教育系美术专业;1964年,就读于东京艺术大学,专攻设计,现为广岛大学美术系教授。自1973年以来,他先后参加日本全国各类美展,活跃于当今日本画坛,为日本美术展、第五届广岛国际文化财团美术大奖的获得者。 河野通男作品表现的主题内容,多为画家自我心象的写照,他热衷于对非现实形态内容的描绘,通过自己创造的表现符号来建构出一种有序的画面形式,借助独创的艺术语言,构造出一个意象的理念世界中幻想的空间和人物形象。
