(一)1996年10月18日,中国嘉德国际拍卖有限公司在北京昆仑饭店拍卖会上,傅抱石作品《丽人行》以人民币1078万元成交,一举打破现代中国画拍卖价的最高纪录,震惊艺术界。绘画是艺术品,而作为商品的市场价格是否与其艺术价值等同呢?大家知道,在目前市场经济推动下,往往由于媒体炒作及画家的社会关系或特殊背景等复杂因素,作品的市场价格不一定反映真实的艺术价值。然而对于历史人物,经过长期的时间考验,剔除人为的成分,其价格反映就比较接近本身的艺术真实了。傅抱石先生逝世将近四十年,属于近代历史人物,其艺术上的卓越成就早就为国内外所共识。嘉德公司在拍卖此画前曾约我撰写一篇介绍文章,刊在其专印的《丽人行》画册上。文中特别提到,早在四十年代初期,
