Under the unrealistic or uneconomical conditions of open-hole logging, a new type of cased-hole logging technique may be used for old well review and monitoring of reservoir dynamics. The development of this technique is to determine the neutron and density porosity in a cased hole based on a pulsed neutron system (15 / 8in. In diameter). For many years, neutron porosity measurements have been used to analyze cased-hole reservoirs. This porosity method based on the measurement of hydrogen content is effective in a single lithologic reservoir containing oil or water. Using increased cased hole density porosity data, the porosity of complex lithologic reservoirs can be more accurately determined. In cased-hole reservoir evaluation, this technique is expected to be used to detect natural gas through density and neutron porosity overlays.
