Axial mixing of continuous phase in a RDC was studied with or without the counterflow of dispersed phase.Equations were developed to predict the axial mixing Peclet number Pe for single phase flow as well as the effect of the dispersed phase flow on the axial mixing of the continuous phase for two phase counterflow. Both physicae model developed and experimental results indicate that the axial mixing of the continuous phase could be enhanced or diminished by the flow of dispersed phase under different operating conditions.
