叶伟娜从小天资灵秀,爱读《红楼梦》《西厢记》,也十分手巧,除了绣花,她6岁踏缝纫机,9岁会做衣裳。上世纪的八十年代,中华大地掀起了改革开放的大潮,叶伟娜的心也随之在商海里漫游,跟着感觉走,一边寻找着适合自己的方向。1996年,她来到苏绣的腹地镇湖,决心要进行刺绣内容上的革命。她带领一批绣娘创作了一幅幅中国刺绣业从未见过的高品位艺术作品,接着又到上海,以海纳百川的精神,集全国各派刺绣之长,形成了她独创的“上海画绣”这一工艺品种,获得长宁区非遗产证书,并被评为2013年全国十大杰出工艺设计艺术家。叶伟娜的作品计有中国画、西洋画、敦煌艺术三大系列,特别是她的《大美敦煌》系列作品,屡屡获得众人惊叹,有的作品被誉为国宝回归。由于绣娘们大都步入老年,叶伟娜希望有更多的年轻人加盟,创造出更多的好作品,将这一门艺术传承下去。
