美国于20世纪80年代开始研究开发基于通信的列车控制系统(CBTC),其中精确列车控制系统(PTC)是CBTC的一种形式。PTC具有确保列车运行间隔,防止列车追尾,强制限速,并在特定授权下保护线路施工人员和设备安全等功能。目前美国伯林顿北方圣菲铁路公司(BNSF)、切西滨海铁路公司(CSX)、南方诺福克公司(NorfolkSouthern)和联合太平洋公司(UP)都在研制各自的PTC系统并进行系统试验,以保证列车运行安全,提高铁路运输能力,同时ETMS、ITCS、OTC等列车控制系统也在积极进行测试,并在部分铁路线路上得到应用。
In the 1980s, the United States began to research and develop a communication-based train control system (CBTC), in which the precise train control system (PTC) is a form of CBTC. PTC has to ensure train operation interval, to prevent train rear-end, forcing speed, and under certain authorized to protect line construction and equipment safety and other functions. At present, Northern California Burlington Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF), Chelsea Coast Railway Corporation (CSX), Norfolk Southern and United Pacific (UP) are developing their own PTC systems and systematic testing, In order to ensure the safe operation of trains and improve the railway transport capacity, train control systems such as ETMS, ITCS and OTC are also being actively tested and applied on some railway lines.
