为了提高本州~北海道间的货运能力,日本铁路货运公司于1991年2月,着手制造大功率新型内燃机车,预计在本年度末完成。新型机车装有2台1700马力(1251kW)的柴油机。它与日本传统的内燃机车不同的是,采用电力传动方式。其主要特点如下: (1)柴油机功率为现行DD51型机车的1.5倍,轮周功率为1800kW(DD51型机车约为1200kW),在牵引800t集装箱列车时的最高速度为110km/h,1000t时为100km/h。 (2)为了便于维修以及提高机车的可靠性,采用了VVVF逆变器控制的异步电动机驱
In order to improve the cargo capacity between Honshu and Hokkaido, the Japan Railway Freight Transport Company started the construction of a new high-power diesel locomotive in February 1991 and is expected to complete the end of the fiscal year.
