非裔黑人女作家艾丽丝·沃克的小说《紫颜色》中采用了隐喻的方式,通过使用赋有黑人文化传统特点的意象展现了黑人女性的历史观、种族观和社会意识观以及她们艰难地文化境遇。本文运用非裔美国文学批评家亨利.路易斯.盖茨的喻指理论,对小说文本中出现的颜色、布鲁斯音乐、缝纫等文化隐喻进行梳理,深刻地挖掘沃克在其作品中所蕴藏的对黑人传统文化的理解以及对非裔黑人女性问题超越种族与性别的思考。
A metaphorical approach is adopted in the novel “Purple Color” by the African-American black woman Alice Walker to show the black woman’s view of history, ethnicity and social awareness and their difficult cultural situations by using the images bearing the black culture’s traditional characteristics . Based on the metaphorical theory of Henry Louis Gates, an African-American literary critic, this essay sorts out the cultural metaphors such as color, Bruce music and sewing in the novel texts to deeply excavate the influence of Walker’s concealment on blacks Traditional cultural understanding and reflection on the issue of African-American black women transcending race and gender.
