连香树(Cercidiphyllum japonicum Sieb.et zucc.)又名山白果、子母树、紫荆叶木.连香树科连香树属,是一种古老稀有的珍贵落叶高大乔木,属孑遗植物之一,单科单属稀有种,被国家列为二级保护植物,并列入<中国植物红皮书>.连香树果和叶可作药用,树皮和叶均含有鞣质,可提取烤胶.该树种寿命长、木材纹理直,结构细,为优良用材树.其树干通直、树形优美,也是极好的园林绿化用树.但是由于结实少,幼苗易受暴雨、病虫等危害,故天然更新困难,加之历年来只砍伐,不种植,导致分布区逐渐减
